Android TV and Google TV fail differently from phones. The launcher preloads hard, the store build of most players is cut down, and the system kills anything holding a large database. Black screen or a spinner that never resolves is the usual shape.<\/p>\n

Give it ninety seconds before touching anything<\/h2>\n

First launch builds the channel database. Twelve thousand entries on a TV CPU takes a minute to ninety seconds. People kill it at twenty, reinstall, and start the clock again \u2014 then conclude the app is broken.<\/p>\n

Free storage<\/h2>\n

Under 500 MB and the database write fails silently. Settings \u2192 Storage. Uninstall what nobody watches.<\/p>\n

Store build vs full build<\/h2>\n

Play Store versions are stripped and often cannot import a large playlist at all. Sideload the full APK from the provider.<\/p>\n

Turn off the launcher feed<\/h2>\n

Google TV’s recommendation row competes for memory and network on every wake. Disable content preferences in the launcher settings.<\/p>\n

The clock again<\/h2>\n

Boxes lose time when unplugged, and time-signed logins fail on a drifted clock. Set automatic time.<\/p>\n

Import fifty channels as a test<\/h2>\n

Loads fine, full list doesn’t? The ceiling is the device, not the account.<\/p>\n

Then power-cycle and reinstall<\/h2>\n

Pull the plug, not the remote. Then uninstall and install clean.<\/p>\n

The part nobody wants to hear<\/h2>\n

A 2 GB box from 2019 runs a 4K-capable player badly, and no setting changes that. If the same account opens instantly on a phone and never on the box, you have your answer. A current-generation device costs less than two months of subscription and deletes the entire problem class.<\/p>\n

What a healthy first launch looks like<\/h2>\n

A spinner for forty to ninety seconds, then the channel list. No black screen, no return to the launcher. If it bounces back to the home screen within ten seconds, the app is being killed for memory and the storage and launcher steps above are the ones that matter.<\/p>\n

Sideloading it properly<\/h2>\n

Download the APK on a phone or laptop, put it on the box over a file manager or a USB stick, then install from there with unknown sources enabled for that file manager. Installing straight from a browser on the TV fails more often than not, and the half-written APK it leaves behind is what makes the app close on launch afterwards.<\/p>\n
