The stream plays, the channel list loads, the guide column stays empty. That combination tells you something specific: the app is reaching the playlist and failing on the separate XMLTV request. Two different URLs, two different failure modes. Nothing you do inside the player fixes a dead guide URL.<\/p>\n

Open the EPG URL in a browser<\/h2>\n

Copy the XMLTV address out of the settings and paste it into a browser on the same network. XML back means the guide is alive and the app is at fault. 403, 404 or a login prompt means the guide is not being served and you can stop fiddling.<\/p>\n

The guide has to belong to the playlist<\/h2>\n

EPG sources are keyed to channel IDs. Borrow a guide from another provider and the IDs never line up \u2014 channels play, grid stays blank. Use the URL issued with your own line.<\/p>\n

Force the refresh and then wait<\/h2>\n

Players pull the guide every 12 to 24 hours. Settings \u2192 EPG \u2192 Update now, then leave the app open for two minutes. Closing it immediately cancels the download, which is why “I pressed update” often does nothing.<\/p>\n

Clear the half-written file<\/h2>\n

A partial guide blocks the next attempt. Android: Settings \u2192 Apps \u2192 player \u2192 Storage \u2192 Clear cache. TiviMate: Settings \u2192 EPG \u2192 Clear EPG.<\/p>\n

Guide loads but every time is wrong<\/h2>\n

Timezone offset, not missing data. Set the app’s EPG offset to your zone. Do not touch the device clock \u2014 that breaks logins instead.<\/p>\n

Trim it<\/h2>\n

A 12,000-channel guide runs 40 to 80 MB. Plenty of devices time out before it finishes. Limit the EPG to favourites and the download completes.<\/p>\n

Some lines simply don’t ship a guide<\/h2>\n

Reseller tiers sometimes include playlist only. If the panel has no XMLTV URL for your account, that is a one-line change on their side \u2014 ask.<\/p>\n

Guide settings differ per player<\/h2>\n

Smarters Pro keeps the XMLTV URL under Settings \u2192 EPG \u2192 EPG URL, one field, no offset. TiviMate keeps it under Settings \u2192 EPG \u2192 Add source and lets you set a per-source offset. If you moved between the two, the offset you set in one does not travel with the account and the guide will look shifted until you set it again.<\/p>\n

Worth treating as a real fault, not a cosmetic one: without a guide there is no catch-up, no recording, and no way to find a match by name. It roughly halves what you paid for.<\/p>\n
